Their phone stays calm
The person being looked after sees almost nothing: large type, one line that says where they are, a button to call you, and a help button. No feeds, no settings to get lost in, nothing to accidentally switch off.
For families and care teams
CheckInHello helps you look after an adult who may wander, someone living with dementia, a cognitive or developmental disability, or mental illness, with their consent and on their terms. You set the safe places and get told when something is wrong. Their phone stays simple, calm, and theirs.
Early access is free while we build. No card, no app store yet.
The coat is gone from the hook and nobody heard the door. Lunch went cold because he set out for a shop that closed years ago. You love this person and you want them to keep their days, their walks, their independence. You just want to know, quickly, when a walk turns into something else.
Most tracking apps treat that worry like a problem to surveil. They put a map in your pocket and a stranger’s eye on someone who never agreed to it. We think watching over a person should start with their permission and leave their dignity intact.
How it works
The person being looked after sees almost nothing: large type, one line that says where they are, a button to call you, and a help button. No feeds, no settings to get lost in, nothing to accidentally switch off.
You and the rest of the care team set the safe places and the rules. When a zone is left, a night door opens, or a phone goes still too long, the right people are told, and told again if no one answers.
What it does
Draw a circle around home, the day centre, a sibling’s house. Choose whether leaving or arriving should tell you, zone by zone.
Set a window, say 10 pm to 6 am, when a door left or a zone crossed reaches you right away instead of waiting.
One press on their phone or watch reaches the whole care team at once, with where they are and when they asked.
If a phone sits still far too long, you hear about it gently, before it becomes the kind of thing you’d call about.
No single person carries it alone. If the first caregiver doesn’t answer, the alert moves to the next, by push and then a text.
The person sees every caregiver and every zone, knows each time someone checks on them, and can narrow or pause sharing at any moment.
Why we built it this way
Sharing only exists because the person invited you into it. They can see who looked and when. They can tighten what you see, or pause it, without asking anyone. Where a guardian holds legal authority, the app records that too, in plain words that can be read aloud at the kitchen table.
It is built to fail loud, never silent. Every alert has someone it will reach, and a next person if it has to. That is the whole promise: enough to keep them safe, and not one thing more.
Families caring for a parent or partner living with dementia or memory loss.
Care teams and group homes supporting adults with cognitive or developmental disabilities.
Anyone whose person has walked off before, and who would rather know sooner than later.
CheckInHello is for adults and their chosen care circle. It is not a child tracker, and it is not a way to watch someone who hasn’t agreed to it.
Early access
We’re opening CheckInHello to a small group of families and care teams. Tell us a little about who you’re looking after and we’ll reach out as spots open.
We’ll be in touch as early access opens. Keep an eye on your inbox.
